Kahurangi Toi Ātea is the name gifted to the National Screen Skills Training Programme by Takitimu. It provides a rich context of the heavenly cloak (the stars) that wraps around us and has provided inspiration for storytelling for generations.
Kahurangi Toi Ātea is an industry led programme and provides participants with the opportunity to learn specific departmental skills from professionals and apply these on set of a large scale production.
THE STRANDS
A production is broken down into five subject areas or strands: Art, Logistics, Post, Production and Technical.

Build your screen knowledge and practical skills
Work alongside industry professionals in a classroom learning (preparation) environment to build both knowledge and practical skills in your selected course strand.

Participating in Kahurangi Toi Ātea is an investment into building a career in the screen industry. All participants will be paid for their work based placement.
Develop experience on set and be mentored
All tauira (participants) will be supported to ensure that the on set experience is positive. All assessments will be work based (apply)and Tauira will be guided as required.
