The Art Department in a film production is responsible for creating the visual look and feel of the movie. This team designs, builds, and decorates sets, as well as selects props, furniture, costuming and other visual elements that bring the story’s world to life. Key roles include the Production Designer, Art Director, Set Decorator, Food Stylist, Vehicle Wrangler, Animal Wrangler, Props Master, Hair, Makeup & Wardrobe Artists, and Costume Designer, all working to ensure that the film’s aesthetic aligns with the director’s vision. The Art Department plays a crucial role in shaping visual storytelling, from large set pieces to the smallest details in props and décor.

Role & Structure: Understand your role and the hierarchy within the costume department, including key relationships with makeup, art, ADs, talent, and production.
Communication & Collaboration: Master the art of coordinating with various departments and interpreting production documents like scripts and schedules from a costume perspective.
Costume Management: Gain hands-on experience with costume maintenance, including sewing, steaming, ironing, laundering, and aging for authenticity.

Step into the world of Art Department and train to become an Assistant Set Dresser, Prop Assistant & Specialist (vehicle wrangling, animal wrangling and prop food). This multi-role course offers in-depth training on:
- Core Roles: Discover the responsibilities of props and set dressing assistants, understand the art department’s structure, and learn key terminology.
- Practical Skills: Gain hands-on experience with script and schedule breakdowns, lighting, colour theory, texture and spatial relationships, dressing and set plans, and sourcing processes. Master practical skills in storage, transportation, inventory, and tool use.
