Kahurangi Toi Ātea works in partnership with producers to build a pipeline of productions where trainees can be attached to complete their workplace (application) learning requirements. These productions are filmed throughout New Zealand and provide Kahurangi Toi Ātea Tauira (participants) with the opportunity to complete in-class learning (preparation) in their region and work on a film throughout New Zealand to complete their training.
The production available to participants of the 2024 programme (open to Canterbury residents only) is the feature film HOLY DAYS.
HOLY DAYS
HOLY DAYS is an uplifting, funny and heartwarming feature film, based on the novel by beloved NZ author, Dame Joy Cowley.
Written and directed by Nathalie Boltt, HOLY DAYS will star BAFTA winning and OSCAR nominated cast. It will be produced by Firefly Films (Bookworm, Uproar, Nude Tuesday, Mr Organ, The Justice of Bunny King, The Changeover) and will be the third film that Firefly Films has made in Christchurch, Canterbury.
Structured as a New Zealand/Canadian co-production, the film will shoot in New Zealand and will post in Canada.
Prep will commence on the 7 October at the University of Canterbury, Kōawa Creative Technologies Precinct for 5 weeks. Principle Photography will commence in Canterbury on the 11 November 2024.
Selected Christchurch-based Workplace Learning Tauira will be engaged in the production of HOLY DAYS, shooting across Canterbury.
